The Middletown Fire Department would like to Congratulate Wayne Skinner on his retirement with over 30 years on the job. Congratulations !
At 16:02 hours Middletown FD was dispatched for a structure fire at 39 Adams Ave. Car 4 was first on scene and had heavy smoke showing and called for a 2nd alarm. 3 cats and a dog were rescued and thanks to Teddy Youngs and Benard Hagen administered oxygen to one of the cats and it life was saved. Great job by all members minimal damage to the house.

It is with regret that the Monhagen Hose Company. of the Middletown Fire Department, announces the passing of 70 year member Marvin H. Cohen. In addition to serving in numerous roles in the Monhagen Hose Co. and Middletown FD, Marv was also one of the Founders of the Orange County Fire Museum. A Memorial Service & Celebration of Life will be held at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, tentatively planned for Summer of 2021. Please keep the Cohen family in your thoughts and prayers.
The Middletown Fire department held their Tri- annual election on Tuesday December 8 from 12 noon to 7 pm. 206 members voted. The following members were elected to their new positions for a three year term: Nick Barber Chief Engineer Robert Brady 1st Asst.Chief Randy MaClean 2nd Asst. Chief Nick Elia 3rd Asst. Chief Sean Gerow Secretary Bill Kelder Treasurer The department members wish them well in their new term of office. Congratulations
Chief Engineer Don Luis will finish his 12 year term as Chief of the Middletown Fire Department on December 31, 2020 at 12 Midnight. Chief Luis served as 3rd Asst.Chief from 2008-2011, 2nd Asst.Chief from 2012-2014, 1st Asst.Chief from 2015-2017 and Chief Engineer from 2018-2020. We thank him for his service to the department and to the community and congratulate him on a job well done.

The Phoenix Engine Company # 4 in conjunction with the Middletown Fire Police and the Middletown Fire Department will again sponsor their annual Santa Run on December 11 & 12. This year due to Covid-19 the run will be a drive by. See the attached poster for more information!
The Middletown Fire Department will hold their Tri-Annual chief’s election on Tuesday December 8, 2020 at the Academy Ave School Gym. All department members are urged to vote. Joseph Andre, career firefighter for local 1027 of the Middletown professional firefighters association retired today after 15 plus years of Service to the Middletown Fire Department and to the citizens of the city of Middletown NY. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his next step in life.

A fire ripped through businesses on midland Ave ext yesterday. The call came in at approximately 10:50 am. Middletown fireman were on the scene into late Thursday night trying to extinguish the hot spots that were left. There were no injuries reported. Thank you to all the mutual aid companies who responded or stood by
Middletown Firemen will be out in full force Halloween Night. The apparatus will be in their normal areas, but due to the covid pandemic, candy will NOT be distributed this year. The fireman will be present to provide safety to the citizens of the city.
The Middletown Fire Department had their awards presentation tonight October 20, 2020 at the Fireman’s Statue in downtown middletown. Members of the common council along with Mayor Joe DeStefano were present. Chief Don Luis and his Board of Engineers presented Leighton Williams, Lt. With the McQuoid Engine And Ladder Company No 3 with the 2019 Firefighter of the year award. Bill Kelder, department treasurer and member of the Phoenix Engine Co no 4 was presented with the 2019 Officer of the year Award and Dustin Ryder Lt. From the Monhagen Hose Company No 1 was presented with a new award, Rookie of the year 2019. Congratulations to these members for a fine job!

The Middletown Fire Department will hold their Annual Inspection on Friday October 8, 2020 starting at 6 pm. The departments Board of Engineers along with city officials will inspect the 3 firehouses in the city. The Middletown Fire Department consists of 5 Engines and 2 Ladders. The department is a combination of Paid and Volunteer firefighters. The Annual Inspection Parade had been cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic. The department is looking forward to a parade in 2021.
Middletown fireman trained today with Pocatello-Mt. Hope and Howells Fire Depts. on tanker shuttle. The primary source of water for Middletown is a fire hydrant. Pocatello-Mt.Hope and Howells depend on a portable pond where water is drafted to fight a fire. The tankers respond to a fill site and then drive to the portable pond and dump their water. It was a great training day for all!
On September 9,2020 Middletown FD was dispatched to a structure fire at 16 Highland Ave. Upon arrival of the first engine a 2nd alarm was dispatched. With such heavy fire upon arrival more water was needed and a 3rd alarm was dispatched to bring water from a different water grid. Middletown FD would like to thank all the mutual aid that assisted us to fight this fire. Middletown Firemen responded to a reported structure Fire at approximately 4 am this morning at 7 Wells Ave. The fire was confined to the basement of the structure. 2 Engines and a ladder responded to the scene with a ladder from Slate Hill on standby. There were no injuries reported. The fire is under investigation by OC Fire Investigators And Middletown Police.
